000webhost.com email not working
If you are having problems accessing your 000webhost.com email addresses then you are not alone. On December 29th 2015 000webhost.com reset all webmail passwords for whatever reason. I know they do that with FTP passwords every 12 months saying it’s for security reasons, but i never noticed them resetting webmail passwords before. Anyway, if you cannot access your webmail through the 000webhost.com control panel it’s because you are entering your old password which is not valid anymore.
Because of the passwords having been changed (it would have been great to get an email about the change, or at least an announcement in the member area) you won’t be able to log into your webmails, neither will you be able to receive emails in your email client (MS Outlook, TheBat, Pegasus, Thunderbird or whatever else you use as email client). Instead of fetching the emails your email client will come up with an error along the lines of wrong username or password.
Common sense now suggests to go to the 000webhost.com control panel, look for the email part that lets you configure email addresses and access your webmail and then manage your email accounts. And by manage email accounts i mean setting a new password for each email account you have in there. Can be somewhat of a tedious job if you have several domains with email accounts for each and every one of them. Good luck with that hehe. Setting a new password is fairly simple, just click Manage Email Accounts and then select the Change Password option for each email in your account.
In theory this should be enough and you should now be able to access your webmail again, and after updating your email client with the new credentials it should start working again. There are a lot of “shoulds” in the previous sentence, and they are there for a reason. I tried that procedure on both of the email addresses in the screenshot and it worked for neither one of them. No matter which of the available webmail clients i chose, i was not able to log in. So changing the password might work, or might not work. For me it didn’t, if it worked for you i’d appreciate if you would leave a comment letting me know.
If it doesn’t work for you, then there are two options:
Open a support ticket letting the helpdesk know that changing the password did not work for you. They are likely to come back with a reply along the lines of “please try changing the password again”. You could try that, but chances are it won’t work. This will go back and forth for a while and eventually you will resort to option 2.
Forget about opening a support ticket and simply delete the email account and create a new one with the same email address. Bad news is that all your emails in your email account are gone for good, there is no backup available. Good news is that recreating the email account works and will let you access your webmail without problems. Also, email clients should start working again after the email account has been recreated (ofc only if the credentials match hehe).
